On Faith, Contentment, and the Human Heart - a soulful letter to the reader.
Have you missed my writings that come from the soul?
Written in the depths of my feelings?
With soul music playing in the background.
And voice so calm, and serene, you wonder.
What’s a soul like you doing here?
Why have I run into you?
Do you believe in coincidences? Or destiny?
If I were to be honest,
I’ve missed writing so much.
Sitting with a peacefully broken heart. My usual.
But eyes that still sparkle,
Not because I haven’t lost faith in life,
But because I’ve placed my faith in God.
I’ve discovered that when you do,
God fills your cup in so many ways,
That you never feel the absence of any one thing.
I’ve also learned in life,
To always treat things as you would want to be remembered.
Treat relationships with how you intuitively want to treat them.
Disregard the doubts and whispers in your head, setting useless boundaries and limitations, telling you to wait for this and wait for that so you don’t look like a fool.
Look like a fool.
Be a fool.
Why the heck not?
If you follow your intuition,
you won’t look like a fool anyway.
You’d be remembered in the depths of the receiver’s heart.
As the person who treated them well.
And what more can you ask for?
Be you.
Learn to be content with what you have.
Learn, again and again, the feeling of being content, wholesome, at peace, with all of which you have. It is the best thing you can do in this life.
We - humans, don’t magically become content when we have possessed ‘enough.’
We learn contentment.
It is a learnt trait.
So, open your eyes,
and as soon as you do, remember God.
Remember that there is a creator that listens to you, hears you, sees you, and understands you, but awaits you. Awaits you to talk to him, and when you do, he always responds.
He doesn’t let you feel abandoned. He heals you, he does what he can to give you what you need.
It is us the humans, who have so many things we choose to hear, so many inputs, leaves you confused…
Doubts, the devil, music, friends, social media.. All of which, we subconsciously prioritize, too much more than we should.
Again and again,
I understand the power of God.
And the power of prayer, when the intention is pure and faithful.
You pray whilst doubting God’s answer, don’t you?
If you do… You are not brave. You are not ready.
It is not God we should doubt. But our own faith in him.
If you doubt yourself, what does that say about you?
If you doubt the actions you take, what does that say about you?
Don’t doubt, and if you do something, always do it well.
Try.
Then come and complain to me.
Because I will tell you,
Did you pray well?
Did you put all of your faith in it?
Did you put all of your trust in it?
Did you wipe your ego aside and open yourself up to whatever the consequence might be?
God knows best.
You, child, you only feel.
And who better to trust, with your feelings,
than the one who made them in the first place?
Try, try and try again.
Talk to him.
Tell him your mistakes, your sorrows, your doubts, your flaws.
Tell him, in return, who you want to become.
Ask him to guide your heart. Then listen to your heart.
Ask him to teach you, then seek the lesson.
Ask him to show you, then accept what you see.
Tell him to never take you off the path you want to stay on. Then follow.
Tell him to remove evil/what’s not meant for you from your path, then trust it.
It’s easier said than done,
But I share this with you, not as someone who’s merely learnt this.
But as someone who has gone through it too.
I sit with a broken heart from the world that let me down.
But I also sit, with peace and contentment in my soul, knowing God, never, ever let me down.
All of which I had prayed for, one way or another, was delivered to me.
I asked for strength, and I became stronger through experience.
I asked for patience, and I am patient.
I asked for wisdom, and I lived through events that make a person wise.
I asked for knowledge, and I met so many people who taught me more than reading ever could.
What you ask, what you seek, will be provided for you.
You just have to have the curiosity, humbleness, and patience to understand it.
Anyway, enough about God, right?
If you sit with a slightly unhappy heart,
slightly empty perhaps,
or with a confused thought whispering, ‘‘I have everything I could ever need, and yet…’’
Then come here, lean in.
Trust me when I say,
and take my words coming from someone who has a pure intention;
When telling you,
‘‘Pour the rest of you into God, and watch how fulfilled he makes your soul & heart.’’
Of course, yes, do your responsibilities well,
then also seek knowledge, have hobbies, and have fun too.
But the quiet moments, pour them into your relationship with God.
Seek to learn yourself, through God’s help & speech.
Seek to understand, but understand him first.
Once you do, you will see life in a more fulfilling,
special, unmistakably full way.
You will have the strength and bravery to go after your dreams.
Because nothing is ever too big or small.
What you seek, seeks you too.
You just have to initiate.
Then it’ll all show itself to you.
Enough.
I hope Allah blesses you all at least once today.
Assalamu Aleikum.
